March 11, 2008 Town Board

Town of Lake Mills
March 11, 2008

Meeting was called to order by Chairperson Heinz.  All members were
present.  Motion made by Supervisor Berns to approve the agenda,
seconded by Supervisor Schroeder.  Carried.  Motion made by Supervisor
Berns to approve the minutes of the February monthly meeting with the
following amendment, “Motion to approve the February Treasurer’s
report made by Supervisor Schroeder, seconded by Supervisor Berns,
Carried. Motion made by Supervisor Berns to approve the General Fund 
Vouching of $55,399.77, seconded by Supervisor Schroeder. Carried”,
seconded by Supervisor Schroeder.  Carried.  Motion made by Supervisor
Schroeder to approve the March Treasurer’s Report, seconded by
Supervisor Berns. Carried.  Motion made by Supervisor Schroeder to
Approve the General Fund Vouching of $1,263,310.54, seconded by
Supervisor Berns.  Carried.  
The monthly police report was read by the town clerk.  No report from
the Joint Rock Lake Committee, they didn’t have a quorum.  The town is
still looking for a new appointed member for the committee.  No report
for the Plan Commission, they are still working on the Town’s
Subdivision Ordinance.  Supervisor Schroeder reported that he attended
a County Unit meeting where they discussed the importance of
Agriculture.  
Period of Public Comment:  Verizon Representative Brandon Harris
reviewed Verizon’s promotions for municipalities for wireless services
and rates. Chairperson Heinz reported that the Enbridge Pipeline
project will continue for the next few weeks.  Because their trucks
will be using a town road they will be sending the town a letter of
irrevocable credit for damages or a bond for $200,000.00 in case they
damage the town road during the period of time that the town’s weight
limit ordinance is in effect. 
No applications to review or Old Business.
Motion made by Supervisor Schroeder to approve the appointment of
Eugene Hasel and James Battist to the Town Plan Commission for 2 year
terms, seconded by Supervisor Berns.  Carried. Motion made by
Supervisor Berns to appoint Thomas Pezzi for a 2 year term of the
Joint Rock Lake Committee, seconded by Supervisor Schroeder.  Thomas
Pezzi was recently appointed to complete the term of office for Betsy
Delorey. Motion made by Supervisor Schroeder to approve the
appointment of Pat Zimmer to the Joint Cable Regulatory Board for  a
two year term, seconded by Supervisor Berns.  Carried. Motion made by
Supervisor Berns to appoint Supervisor Dave Schroeder for a one year
term to the Lake Mills Fire Department Advisory Board, seconded by
Chairperson Heinz.  Motion carried, Supervisor Schroeder abstained.
Motion made by Chairperson Heinz to appoint Supervisor Thomas Berns
for a one year term to the Plan Commission, seconded by Supervisor
Schroeder. Motion carried, Supervisor Berns abstained. 
Motion made by Chairperson Heinz to approve the date of April 8th,
8am for the annual town road tour, seconded by Supervisor Berns. 
Carried.
No action taken regarding brushing of roads.  Chairperson Heinz will
try to get an estimate of costs from a company he received information
from.  If the town were to rent a piece of equipment it would cost the
town $4,000.00 for two weeks of rental plus the wage to the town
employee for running the equipment.  
Motion made by Supervisor Schroeder to adjourn, seconded by
Supervisor Berns.  Carried.
These minutes are unapproved.  Any corrections made thereto will be
noted in the proceedings of the next meeting in which they are
approved.
