March 4, 2008 Joint Rock Lake Committee

Meeting Minutes, Tuesday February 5th, 2008, 6-7:30pm at Lake Mills
City Hall
Chairperson Glenn Zastrow called the meeting to order at 6:05p.m.
Board Members Present: Tom Pezzi, Glenn Zastrow, and Stan
Smoniewski.
Others Present:  Jim Heinz of the Lake Mills Town Board, Ed Grunden &
Wayne Magnusson of the City Council (for the first hour).
Jim Heinz swore in Tom Pezzi as a new officer.
The agenda was accepted. Stan motioned and Tom seconded.  The minutes
for November were approved, Glenn motioned and Stan seconded. Notice
of the meeting was published in the Lake Mills Leader.

Town and City Report: Jim stated that they did not receive the grant
to fund the N. End parking redesign.  They will reapply in April.  
Wayne mentioned that the Dam management policy in on the City website.
 Ed mentioned that he was bringing up the issue of snow storage near
the Millpond.

Old Business:

A)    Long Range Plan for Rock Lake (LRP): The Committee discussed what
actions to take regarding the identified priorities it felt were in
its bailiwick.  Please refer to the management plan to read the detail
associated with the priority: 
3)  Pending further research and strategizing.
6)  Draining water through the fish hatchery during high water has
complications, i.e. fish  diseases (VHS).  Pending further research. 

7)  Tom will check locations and supplies needed; Glenn will talk
with Scott Erwin, Lake Patrol.
18) The Committee will draft a letter to the Town Board supporting
control of trampolines & rafts.
19) Tom will check launches; Glenn will talk with Bill Loeder about
containers they use to store pamphlets.
26,29,33,39,43 will be discussed at the next meeting.

Stan reported that Robin, Town Clerk, will update Committee info that
is on the current website, and will check into additional space for a
custom Committee page.

B)    Boat Launch Ordinance and Beach Improvements: Melissa was absent. 
Stan will forward the draft to Tom.

New Business: none

Correspondence and Period of additional Public Comment:  Stan
mentioned that the Wisconsin Association of Lakes Convention is April
17-19 & he is planning on attending part of the workshops &
educational sessions.  The others have not decided if they are
attending yet.
