Due to the high rainfall amounts in Jefferson County, federal, state
and local officials will conduct Preliminary Damage Assessment (PDA).
Disaster teams will begin damage assessments, focusing on damage to
private primary residents and businesses. Individual assistance may
be available in the form of either grants or loans for private
residents and businesses to repair the damages incurred, said Donna
Haugom, Director of Jefferson County Emergency Management Office.

PDA teams are comprised of personnel from the Federal Emergency
Management Agency (FEMA) Region V (Chicago), the Small Business
Administration, Wisconsin Emergency Management, and local government
officials.

The exact dates for Jefferson County are not set as the disaster
teams will begin their assessments with Vernon, Crawford, Richland,
LaCrosse, and Sauk Counties on Tuesday, August 28th. Five PDA teams
have been dispatched to perform the assessments and it is speculated
that Jefferson County may receive a team by Wednesday, August 29th or
Thursday, August 30th.

It is extremely important that if your residents or business within
Jefferson County has incurred any damage as a result of the heavy
rainfall that began Saturday, August 18th due to flash flooding, high
water levels, water getting into basements, or any other damage to
contact the Jefferson County Emergency Management Office at
920-674-7450. Documentation of the damages in the form of pictures
would be very helpful. A list will be created for the Damage
Assessment Team to visit. In order to be considered for individual
assistance, your damages must be assessed by the PDA team.
