	NOTICE OF REFERENDUM

	Town of Lake Mills

	September 9, 2008


NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that at an election to be held in the Town  of
Lake Mills, Jefferson County, on Tuesday,September 9th, 2008 the
following question will be submitted to a vote of the people:


The Town of Lake Mills has been falling behind on maintenance and
reconstruction of the town roads due to State of Wisconsin imposed Tax
Levy caps. To raise additional funds to continue to repair, maintain
and reconstruct the town roads the Town Board proposes to increase the
tax levy.  The funds raised by the levy increase will be used solely
for additional highway funds, to cover the cost of snow plowing,
highway maintenance and new highway construction.  Under state law,
the increase in the levy of the Town of Lake Mills for the tax to be
imposed for the next fiscal year, 2009, is limited to 2% which results
in a levy of $331,500.00. Shall the Town of Lake Mills be allowed to
exceed this limit and increase the levy for the next fiscal year,
2009, by a total of 20% which results in a levy of $390,000.00?” 

A “YES” vote will allow the Town of Lake Mills to exceed the levy
limit and increase the levy for the next fiscal year, 2009, by a total
of 20% which results in a levy of $390,000.00. 

A “NO” vote will not allow the Town of Lake Mills to exceed the levy
limit.

of the question can be obtained from the office of the  Lake Mills
Town clerk.
